Title I

Purpose of the Title I, Part A Program:
The purpose of Title I, Part A program is to ensure that all children, particularly low-achieving children in the highest-poverty schools, have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency in challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

J.C. Mitchell Elementary qualifies as a Title I school based on the percentage of students with free/reduced lunch.  This means, J.C. Mitchell Elementary has a school-wide program, where ALL students are eligible for services through Title I.  The intent of Title I is to use funds to supplement, not supplant, to provide extra services, instructional materials including funding additional staff and support  for teacher/staff to provide interventions to those students who need additional help in passing the STAAR.
